FAQ
Do I need to mail you the physical photo?
No, we don’t need the physical photo. Just need a digital copy! 600 dpi or greater is preferred, but we can work with most images! Just keep in mind the quality of the photo you send will directly affect the quality of the fused photo.
Are the photos always red?
Yes, the photos always turn out a reddish sepia color! The photos are printed in black and white, and the iron content in the toner is what fuses to the glass. The iron is what creates the red tone on the glass!
Are these glass photos archival?
As far as we can tell, they seem to be archival. There is not much available information or research on this technique in terms of reaction to UV exposure or long lengths of time. However, through my own experience and research, these photos should last a lifetime. But this is not guaranteed, especially if your piece is regularly exposed to harsh chemicals or climates that could affect the photo over time.
What if I don’t want my photo posted online?
When ordering your custom piece, there is an option to select whether or not you give permission for us to use your personal photo in any promotional or social media photos or videos. We understand some photos are private and have no problem respecting your preference!
How do I display my glass panel?
There are a few different ways you can display your panel. The 5x7” and 8x10” panels do fit into standard photo frames, if you would like to frame your piece. We would also recommend a plate display stand if you want to display on a shelf, or a plate hanger if you want a frameless wall hang. There are plenty of adhesive options for hanging, although be wary of depending on adhesives if you are hanging long term. Most methods for displaying decorative plates apply to the glass panels, which can assist in your research to find your perfect display method!
How do I care for my glass piece?
For cleaning the glass photo panels, we recommend washing with soap and water and/or any standard glass cleaner! Avoid anything abrasive, as this could cause micro scratches on the surface of the glass.
